I read an article recently that suggested that 'defining goals defines your limitations'. It's fair to say that I couldn't disagree more!
I have always and will always be a goal setter. It's what drives me forward, keeps me focused and for me is far from self-limiting! I separate my goals into three categories – career, personal and training (my sport of choice...triathlon). I take one year at a time...things change too quickly for me to get too far ahead of myself.
I write them into a journal (specifically purchased for this very pursuit) and reference them regularly – add to them, tick them off and yes, scribble them out, thus allowing for the ebb and flow of life. For some reason writing them down ensures a greater level of commitment from me...maybe because I'm a list maker and love the satisfaction of ticking things off!
Here are three of my 2014 goals:
• Complete the Company Directors Course;
• Establish and launch my new business – Corporate Gold Presentations;
• Complete my second Half Ironman (Busselton)
How about you? It takes no more than 30 minutes of your time to begin your goal setting...and trust me, it's worth doing! Need a hand..let me know!
